Criterio del maḏhab mālikī sobre algunas prácticas de carácter mágico

María Arcas Campoy (Universidad de La Laguna)

Abstract

This communication does not present a study on magic itself but on its treatment in Islamic law, according to the Mālikī maḏhab, that is, the criteria of the jurists of this doctrine regarding certain magical practices, permitting or condemning them. Several Mālikī legal treatises include, almost always at the end, some chapters relevant to this topic. The elements and terms related to magic are diverse. In addition to magic itself, other elements such as amulets, talismans, spells, enchantments, invocations, good or bad omens, evil eye, and good or bad dreams are mentioned.
