Abstract
One of the major difficulties faced by the Arab child is the feeling that they have to learn a new language in terms of structure and pronunciation of words that differ from the language of home and the street. This difficulty can be overcome if we understand how to align the natural conditions of communication in the Arabic language with its formal structure before the stage of reading and writing. Its structural system and functional application can be developed easily if the child is equipped from the beginning with a rich supply of necessary linguistic elements and vocabulary, stemming from the home and auditory tools, as well as the visual tools that have now assumed a significant procedural role.
The composition of the school dictionary is the cornerstone of the educational process, not because it is tied to the future of the language and its widespread usage from one generation to another, but because it contributes to shaping the individual’s personality and opening horizons for knowledge and acquisition. This dictionary involves addressing various and diverse challenges, especially in the preface to the lexicographic process (nomenclature), and it is the main entry point for achieving lexical accomplishment. This necessitates the importance of research and inquiry in all school, literary, and scientific works, monitoring the audiovisual and written media, and comparing it with what is prevalent in foreign languages. This has become a topic of wide circulation under the pressure of cultural factors, the connection between civilizations, and the scientific-technological progression.
