Arabic Short Narratives and Narratio Brevis: Some Remarks

The article analyzes the main features, functions, and relationship with the context of the ḫabar (“anecdote”) in parallel with the corresponding features of the exemplum of the medieval European tradition. The corpus chosen is selected from texts of adab literature dating mainly from the ninth to the twelfth centuries.
